Laparoscopic Management of Splenic Epidermoid Cyst

Abstract
Cysts and tumours of the spleen are uncommonly encountered in clinical practice and continue to present challenges in both surgical workup and treatment. Splenic cysts are rare lesions with around 800 cases reported in the world literature. Epidermoid splenic cysts account for only 10% of all non-parasitic splenic cysts. Traditionally splenectomy was the treatment of choice. The understanding that the spleen is a vital organ shifted the management of these lesions from splenectomy to spleen preservation whenever possible. We report a case of a splenic epidermoid cyst managed laparoscopically in a 23-year-old female.
