Drainage chirurgical d’un abcès cérébral encapsulé très volumineux : rapport de cas pédiatrique

Abstract :
Infectious complications, secondary to malformative neonatal hydrocephalus on ventriculoperitoneal shunting, remain a major pathology of potentially serious neurosurgery. The article presents the case of a very large encapsulated cerebral abscess, observed in a child of three years and five months, with a ventriculoperitoneal shunt device placed following neonatal malformative hydrocephalus. The patient underwent surgical treatment, and was subjected to broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy by intravenous infusion, before recommending a therapy targeting Kliebsella pneumonea. The authors analyze the clinical manifestations, the imaging, the treatment and the results obtained. They emphasize the complexity and effectiveness of clinical management in the event of non-compliance by the patient.
