Tumeur brune sternale compliquant un hyperparathyroïdisme secondaire persistant après parathyroidectomie subtotale: à propos d’un cas

Abstract
Introduction: The brown tumor is a pseudo-tumor non-neoplastic, constituting one of the bone manifestations of hyperparathyroidism in its severe forms. Observation: We report the case of a 55-year-old patient with hyperparathyroidism secondary to end-stage chronic renal failure, treated by hemodialysis, which was operated by subtotal parathyroidectomy 7/8. Results: The high postoperative rate of PTH signed the persistence of hyperparathyroidism which was complicated by sternal brown tumor. Conclusion: The brown tumor is a non-neoplastic lesion occurring in the context of primary, secondary, or tertiary hyperparathyroidism, the diagnosis of which remains a challenge based on biological and radiological assessments.
