Abstract
Streptococcus pyogenes is an uncommon pathogen encountered in urinary tract infections.
Using the routine urine culture methods followed in most of the laboratories, fastidious organisms are often missed as a uropathogen. Here we report a case of repeated isolation of Streptococcus pyogenes from urine sample in significant quantity ,from a symptomatic adult man with underlying urological abnormalities. It is emphasised that gram positive organisms especially unusual ones like Streptococcus pyogenes should not be overlooked as a causative agent of urinary tract infection.

Key words: Streptococcus pyogenes, Urinary tract infection, Recurrent infection
